Bill Evans is a graduate of Sydney University. He holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from Sydney with Honours and the University Medal. Bill is also a graduate from the London School of Economics. Bill has worked as a Research Manager for the Reserve Bank of Australia, Treasurer at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, and prior to joining Westpac in 1991, was Director and Head of Financial Markets at Schroders Australia for eight years.

In this role Michael is responsible for monitoring, analysing, and forecasting trends in the Australian economy, financial markets and domestic monetary policy. Michael joined the Commonwealth Bank in late 1995 as the Senior Economist in the Bank's economic research division. Prior to this he spent 13 years in various roles within the Economic Group of the Reserve Bank of Australia including a role at the International Monetary Fund. Michael was the Reserve Bank's Senior Economist from 1991-1995 with responsibility for the provision of economic analysis and policy advice.

Anne has over 25 years experience in financial services and information technology and has previously held senior roles at Advance Bank, St George Bank, Macquarie Bank and QBE Insurance. She has held both business and IT roles covering areas such as strategy and planning, business systems, application development, IT infrastructure and large scale project and programme management. She has held the CIO role at ING Direct since 2005 and in 2007 added responsibility for all back office operations including all mortgage and deposit processing functions.

Steven has a wealth or experience in Banking and Finance extending over the past 20 years.After completing an Economics degree Steve trained as a commercial lender and worked in various roles including headed up Underwriting, Risk Management for Secured lending, and Commercial Banking in WA before setting up the first sub-prime commercial lending program in Australia for Liberty Financial. Steve has worked for ANZ, Royal & SunAlliance, Westpac, Liberty Financial, Radian Mortgage Services before joining Citigroup.

Rob is the Chief Economist, Markets at National Australia Bank where he advises the Bank’s dealing rooms and business clients on the economy and financial developments. Rob also makes regular comments on TV, radio and the print media on financial and economic issues, representing NAB.

Rob has a B.Com (Hons, Economics) from Newcastle University and a Masters Degree in Economics from the ANU and has 34 years experience as a professional economist with the Australian Government and the private sector. Towards the end of his time working with the Australian Government, Rob worked for the Prime Minister’s Department, providing policy advice to the then Prime Minister, Bob Hawke. He is the immediate past Chairman and an Honorary Life Member of the Australian Business Economists professional association.

Kathy Cummings is responsible for the operation of all Third Party Banking business nationally. Kathy has over 20 years experience and within her role at Commonwealth Bank, Kathy has incorporated the Bank’s business priorities of Excellence in Customer Service and Operational Efficiency to engage the Broker market in improved, yet simplified standards in broker training, education and customer relations.

John was appointed Head of Broker Sales, NAB Broker in March 2007. In his role John is responsible for the management of the national sales team of Senior Relationship Managers and Specialist resources driving the development of NAB Broker’s partnership proposition for brokers. John has completed studies in Valuations (Bachelor of Business Property) at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.

Jo is Head of Lending Operations at ING DIRECT. This area is responsible for all retail mortgage processing functions from new application approvals through to settlement, variations to loans, and all collections activities. Functions are a combination of automated and manual processing, with the new business area having a greater degree of automation. The team consists of 180 people and is segregated into the areas of Credit, Process, and Collections. Jo commenced in Lending Operations in April 2006 after heading the Contact Centres at ING DIRECT since February 2002. Prior experience includes six years in retail and contact centre management at NRMA and recruitment.

Warren is responsible for ANZ’s financial market analysis and forecasting. Warren joined ANZ from Credit Suisse First Boston where he was the Chief Economist and Head of Interest Rate Product Research. Previously Warren has held roles with Westpac Banking Corporation and the NSW Treasury Corporation. Warren has an Honours Degree in Economics from Macquarie University.

Tobin Fonseca has been the General Manager Operations for Challenger Mortgage Management, since September 2005. The primary purpose of Tobin’s role is to lead and manage the Operations teams supporting all lending programs and commission activities within Challenger Mortgage Management. The Operations activities include all aspects of the lending lifecycle: Underwriting, Administration, Settlements, Loan Servicing and Discharging. Inherent in the responsibilities is the accountability of compliance with regulatory and lending guidelines. Mortgage Management offers residential loans to borrowers across Australia. Under Tobin’s direction Mortgage Management specialises in delivering loans through a network of accredited Preferred Lenders and Broker Platforms. These lenders differentiate themselves in the market by using these lending products under their own brand in their local or niche markets. Tobin is also accountable for the commissions processing for three aggregator groups, Plan, Fast and Choice.

Tobin Fonseca joined Challenger as Chief Executive Officer of Challenger Corporate Superannuation Services in 2002 and has also held the position of Managing Director for Synergy Capital Management (Hobart). Tobin was with Merrill Lynch for a period of 21 years, his most recent role being Vice President Manager (International Private Client Group).

LIXI is the independent organisation established by the lending industry to develop common standards for electronic transactions. Erik’s main focus is to ensure key decision makers are informed of the value of standards in achieving efficiency in the lending process, as well as pro-actively driving the development of new standards and initiatives in the industry. Erik has many years' experience in the financial industry, with LIXI, NextGen, and AFG. Erik holds an MBA from UWA and a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Alberta, Canada. He is also a member of the National Institute of Accountants.

Over the last 6 years, Philippe has been managing the Credit Risk of the NAB’s Mortgages portfolio, starting with ownership of the bank’s automated decisioning strategies and moving up to a broader risk assurance and governance role over this key lending portfolio. During this period, he has gained hands-on experience of consumer credit risk management in fair and stressed economic times.

Garry has been involved in the mortgage industry for over 35 years since commencing as a junior clerk at the National Australia Bank. Over that time he has held senior positions with Australian Mortgage Insurance Corporation, General Manager Operations with Homeloans Ltd, Head of Operations with non bank funder FirstMac and is currently the CEO of national mortgage manager Mortgage Ezy. Garry brings a unique combination of work experience to the fore as he has been actively involved in all aspects of the mortgage industry with particular focus on the credit processing and back office post settlement functions at both a non bank funder and mortgage manager level. Garry is also currently the Chairman of the National Mortgage Management Committee and Board member of the MFAA.
